Mighty Maroons 60 - 12 Hartlepool
It was a perfect afternoon for rugby as the Mighty Maroons hosted Hartlepool under clear skies and warm sunshine. Both sides were eager to get points on the board early in the season, and the opening stages saw some fierce contests and big collisions, with neither team giving an inch.
Ponteland, however, soon began to find their rhythm. Dominating in the contact zones and showing excellent composure at the breakdown, the home side stretched out an early lead, combining pace, power, and precision to keep Hartlepool on the back foot.
The forwards worked tirelessly, creating clean ball for the backs to exploit, while the backs showcased their attacking flair, running in a series of well-executed tries that demonstrated just how well-drilled the side has become.
Early in the second half, it was clear that Ponteland’s intensity and structure were paying off. Despite Hartlepool’s continued efforts and refusal to give up, the gap was simply too wide to close. The Mighty Maroons maintained control right to the final whistle, securing a comprehensive 60–12 victory.
A great display of teamwork, determination, and skill — the perfect way to build momentum for the season ahead.
