Jarrovians 2nd XV 22 - 121 Ponteland 2nd XV

Ponteland RFC 2nd XV travelled to Hebburn on Saturday to take on Jarrovians 2nd XV,

arriving with a strong starting fifteen and a bench of six eager to contribute. Conditions were ideal for running rugby, and what followed was a display of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship from both sides — everything community rugby should be about.

From the outset, Ponteland settled quickly into their rhythm. The scrum proved dominant throughout, providing a solid platform that allowed the backs to move the ball with pace and precision. Although the lineout misfired on a few occasions, the team showed excellent adaptability, regaining structure and maintaining possession through determined work at the breakdown.

The forwards and backs combined superbly, using strong, direct running to make ground and create opportunities across the park. The 9–10 partnership between Tomo and James continued to grow in confidence, with Tomo showing great composure under pressure to deliver quick, clean ball from the breakdown and James controlling play effectively.

Ponteland’s support play was once again outstanding — players ran tirelessly to be in the right place at the right time, turning half chances into points through intelligent link-up play and selfless teamwork. It was this collective effort, rather than individual brilliance, that allowed the scoreline to grow as the game went on.

By the final whistle, Ponteland had secured a remarkable 121–22 victory, a reflection of their sharp execution and cohesion rather than dominance alone. Every one of the 21 players played their part and put in a tremendous shift, maintaining focus and respect for the opposition throughout.

To their immense credit, Jarrovians never stopped competing. They showed real determination, spirit, and positivity, continuing to push right to the end — embodying the true values of rugby. The match was played in great spirit and provided moments of quality from both sides that will be remembered for all the right reasons.

Ponteland would like to thank Jarrovians RFC for their hospitality and for hosting an enjoyable afternoon of rugby. Games like this remind us why we love the sport — teamwork, camaraderie, and respect on and off the field.
