Congratulations to Dan Harrison!

Former Ponteland Rugby Club 1st XV Captain Awarded an MBE

As the new 2025-26 rugby season begins, Ponteland Rugby Club are both delighted for and proud of Daniel Harrison being awarded an MBE in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours for his contribution to philanthropy throughout the Commonwealth.

Daniel (or Dan / Danny, as he's more commonly known as on the rugby pitch) played mini and junior at the club and played for the 1st XV for many years - being captain for 3 seasons from 2009 to 2012.

Still actively involved in the club, Dan can be seen occasionally turning out for Ponteland's Veteran team as well as competing in the Ponteland Wheelbarrow Race (picture from 2016 wheelbarrow race).
