These appointments reflect our club’s deep commitment to community rugby, inclusion, and development at all levels of the game.

We are proud to welcome several members into new positions, and to celebrate the continued contribution of many longstanding committee members. Together, this group will continue to shape the future of Ponteland RFC, ensuring it remains a thriving, welcoming and ambitious club at the heart of our community.

David Comeskey, who has served with distinction as Club President for the past three years, now moves into the role of Immediate Past President. His leadership, passion and dedication have been central to the club’s growth, and we are delighted he will continue to support the committee in this capacity.

Stepping into the role of Club President is Mike Robson, formerly Vice President. A committed club volunteer and coach of the Ponteland Tigers (our senior women’s team), Mike brings energy, experience and a deep understanding of grassroots rugby.

Taking on the role of Vice President is Jonathan Strutt, who will continue to manage club marketing & communications and contribute on the pitch through his coaching work with age-grade rugby. Jonathan’s creative drive and commitment to youth rugby have become vital to the club’s visibility and growth.

We welcome Jayne Ireland into the position of Club Secretary. Jayne has been a committed member of the club both on and off the pitch and now brings her strong organisational skills to this pivotal role.

We’re also delighted to welcome Cheryl Strutt as Club Treasurer. Cheryl brings her extensive experience in finance and corporate operations to the club to help maintain our sustainable financial and operational foundation.

Richard Moller steps from his current role as Standards and Compliance lead to take on the role of Commercial Operations lead, taking over from Andy Maidwell. Richard will continue to strengthen partnerships and club funding as well as continuing in his role leading the Ponteland Beer Festival.

Joining the committee as a co-opted member as Data Officer is Kathryn Searle, whose expertise will support the club’s evolving need to be data-driven in our operations and governance.

We are delighted that several dedicated committee members will also continue in their current roles:

Andy Lawson continues to lead Member & Social Operations, ensuring our vibrant and inclusive club continues to represent our core values both throughout the club and throughout the community.

Dean Gray continues to serve as County Representative, maintaining our strong links with Northumberland RFU.

And Paul Walker remains a co-opted member, offering valued support for senior fixtures and engagement with other local clubs.

Finally, one of our most distinguished committee members who is no stranger both on and off the pitch, John Chappell, continues his role as Chairman and Strategic Development Lead, guiding the long-term direction and growth of the club.

We extend our thanks and appreciation to all members of the Club Committee - both new and continuing - for their ongoing commitment, time and energy. We would like to further extend our thanks and appreciation to the Rugby Committee and all volunteers across all of our initiatives for their engagement, support and time. Ponteland RFC is proud to be a community-focused club run by volunteers, and it is thanks to the hard work of these individuals that we continue to thrive.

Here’s to another successful season ahead - on and off the field.
