From the kick off Pont stole the ball and several drives later were held up over the line. The kick out allowed Pont to play out wide as Trott cantered over to score 5-0 ( 5 min) an attack from the kick off saw the ball dropped. Blyth immediately swept down field and an excellent inside pass saw them score 5-7 ( 8 min) Pont were quick to attack but again a pass fell short and Blyth sprinted 50 metres to extend their lead 5-14 ( 15 min)
Having caught several passes earlier it took 18 minutes of the game before Laser returned to type and dropped a pass! Nevertheless Pont continued to attack and an excellent shimmie saw Trott in again12-14 33 min) Blyth spotted Laser standing near the try line as they kicked off straight to him - and he dropped it! Pont spent the rest of thrvhalf repelling the home team

With Betty now in the centres he immediately scuttled through and offloaded to Freer who scampered over to score, Searle converting 19-14 (41 min) With Pont’s scrum dominating, Blyth broke out against the run of play to score 19-19( 51 min) Pont immediately struck back as Bal smashed his way through several tackles and Mcglashan diving over. 24-19( 60 min)
Both sides were still game on as Pont stretched their lead as a kick through saw Trott over fo4va hat trick with Searle making it 34-19. With time running out one last sweep by a Pont was intercepted as Blyth made it 34-26 at the whistle
