The #MightyMaroons got their new season off to a super start as they received the maximum league points after running in six tries against Guisborough

The two sides brought lots of energy into the opening minutes with fast attacking and quick line speed being demonstrated by both sides. But it was Ryan Gerrard who got the first points of the day as he slotted a penalty kick from 10 metres out on the eight minute mark.
Guisborough replied only three minutes later through a high kick in behind which bounced and bobbled before being collected and passed out wide to score. A successful conversion and Guisborough lead for the first and last time for the match.
Man of the match Courtney West then crossed the whitewash twice within five minutes. After making a 20-metre dash in his first he then followed it up with an outrageous dummy pass before crashing under the post for his second. Ryan Gerrard followed both up with successful conversions.
With the #MightyMaroons playing into spaces, a tip pass from Sam Long fell into the path of a charging Connor Beswick who stepped one and dived over the line to extend their lead. Another successful conversion by Ryan Gerrard and the #MightyMaroons were sitting on a 17-point lead.
Just before the halfway mark, debutant Nathan Rebucha found himself being sent for a 10 minute spell in the bin for a high tackle. Down to just 14 men for the remainder of the half Guisborough applied heavy attacking pressure but a resilient defence kept the visitors out from scoring for the remainder of the half.

Heading into the second half the #MightyMaroons picked up exactly where they left off as a fast play starting from a scrum ended with Patrick Holliday getting the ball down in the far right corner.
Four minutes later the quick thinking full back showcased his quicker speed as a quick penalty tap saw him carve up the midfield and run 50 metres to score.
Guisborough then muscled their way back into the game after a number of line breaks. They eventually managed to execute and score in the 53rd minute.
The visitors were then reduced to 14 men for 10 minutes after a late tackle. Shortly after Connor Beswick was over for his second of the day after chasing a deep kick sent into the back field by Patrick Holliday. A Ryan Gerrard conversion saw the #MightyMaroons total their day of scoring.
A final push by Guisborough saw them barge themselves over the line in the final three minutes of play but it had no impact in the outcome with the #MightyMaroons picking up an emphatic win in round one.
