Today's 1st team game at home to Medicals has been cancelled due to the pitch not having recovered in time. For those wanting your fix of Ponteland rugby this weekend, the 2nds travel to the coast for a friendly against Blyth.
Todays 1st home game against Medicals has probably came a day or two early, with the last of the ice nearly gone but still making the surface dangerous:
The same bad weather has seen the 1st XV home fixture against Houghton cancelled twice now (once before Christmas and now last weekend), with it now being likely that this fixture will fall on Saturday 6th February. It also saw the 1st XV away trip to visiting Barnard Castle being cancelled.
For those who are interested, the 1st team pitch was under a couple of feet of snow as of 2 weeks - snow shoes were needed!

However, the snow or the ice won't stop all of us getting together and we've been running contingency training sessions on Saturdays and throughout the week.
As you can see from the below picture, the dress code leads a lot to be desired:

As the 1st game is off, this Saturday's session will be held at Ponteland sports centre between 15.00 - 16.00, available for all senior players. As we only have the hall for an hour please make sure you're changed and ready to go for 15.00.
It is hoped that we will be able to train outdoors for the first time this year on Monday night. Time is "normal" - 19.00-20.30.
See all players then and hopefully catch up with the rest of you once this snow stops!!
Danny
