Ponteland took another step toward the league championship with a 27-3 victory over Durham rivals Bishop Auckland this Easter weekend.
Indeed, Ponteland could have sewn up the league if not for an amazing decision by the League to allow Medicals to re-arrange the Blyth game due to their tour – in complete contravention of their own League rules and a reminder of this ruling being sent out but 3 weeks ago. Ponteland therefore still require a further point to be crowned League champions, with Houghton away next week giving them their first opportunity.
